Saturday June 28th, after wearing out the radar on my phone, we headed north to Kamp Motor Speedway. Kamp has a little different format for the UMP Sportsman class. Rather than hot lapping (practice), they give a one lap qualifying session. I really like that, however the lack of experience at this track showed as I had it hung out just a little too far and lost the back end of the car. That spin left us with a last row starting spot in the heat. Fast forward to the feature, where we lined up 13th. Patience was the word of the night, as I held the 21 car low "in the rubber" and picked off one car at a time as the made mistakes. We were as high as 6th, but lost one spot coming to the white flag as another car punted me out of the groove and got under. Result: 7th place.

Next up:
Friday July 4th, we'll once again watch the radar as it looks scetchy as of right now. Weather permitting, we'll head south to the Bloomington Speedway to try and conquer our demons on the red clay. They will also be having their 4th of July fireworks show!
Saturday July 5th, we're planning on heading to Lincoln Park Speedway. You just can't argue with the fact that it's less than 30 miles from the shop, and we need a decent night on a familiar track. LPS will also be having their 4th of July fireworks show. Hopefully we will have some family in the stands, and can entertain them!
Sunday July 6th, we'll once again hope to make it up to Vermilion County Speedway in Danville, IL. The forcast looks good at this point, so let's keep our fingers crossed.
